The Story of Leah
Leah was born into a middle class family. Her parents were Emily, a teacher, and William, a police officer. With no siblings, Leah would often play outside to entertain herself. With a growing fascination for nature, she would overcome her fear of the woods behind their home.
Now extending her play area to the woods, she would spot a deer. Hiding behind a tree, she tried not to scare it. Looking at it, the deer would slowly turn into a human. Eyes widening, she would not be able to believe her eyes. Walking up to the person, of which seemed to be a child her age, she would speak her name. Eventually, she figured out that the person, Colette, turned out to go to her school. Although she thought that her turning into a deer was weird, she did not tell others at her school about it.
After being a friend for a year, she still was fascinated by Colette's shape-shifting abilities. Leah would go up to her parents, asking about it. Her parents, after lowering their voice, would tell her that their family had that ability as well. Her mother shape-shifted into a fox, and her father shape-shifted into a North American river otter. They told her that she would inherit one of those shifts, but it would take a while to figure out which.
Once in middle school, Leah was finally able to shift. After using all of the energy she had, she would slowly turn into an otter--just like her father. After doing so, she would look down at her paws, shocked by her ability. Several minutes passed by before she returned to her human form, of which she would run to her parents to tell them what she could shift into.
Now, an eighteen-year-old Leah had just graduated from high school. After saying her goodbyes, especially to Colette, she would return home. Leah had still not figured out what to do, so her parents told her to follow what she loved to do. Still loving nature, Leah would tell her parents that she would spend time in the forest to try and have time to herself, since she had not done so since elementary school. Her parents agreed, but were slightly skeptical.
Now in the forest, with only a pack of her essentials, Leah would travel in the forest. Only going into town to get more of her essentials, funded by her parents, she had become quite lonely, although she did not mind it.
Several years later, Leah would stumble upon a woman wrapped up in a towel, seeming disoriented. Walking up to her, Leah had come to find out that this female was Colette. Colette took Leah back to the little town that she lived in, of which consisted shifters other than herself.
